Space Explorers Captured

Air unit leader Keith (a surprisingly non-threatening name for an air unit leader) takes a team of pilots to the planet Arus to find Voltron, the ultimate force of justice in the universe. Not so fast, says the evil King Zarkon. It’s on, baby.

    The Zarlon robeast …
The Zarlon robeast was the toughest against Voltron and he did the most damage by far to Voltron than the other robeasts. Voltron still prevailed.

wow the animations are similar to the original gundam

    Actually, Voltron …
Actually, Voltron was influenced BY Power Rangers. The Voltron show combines footage from the animes Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV.

Both contain influences and references to Toei’s Super Sentai, the footage source of
    Disney’s Power Rangers.

This is where the Power Rangers are originated.

  11. Brokenwingeddemon87 on July 8th, 2010 at 8:59 pm

    really the origin …
really the origin made no sense unless they were originally the lion robots. cause who makes feet and hands out of loin heads? Voltron would at least make more sense if he was cast in shadow during the origin so it could be argued he looked different but he wasn’t.

    Strangely enough, …
Strangely enough, when Princess Allura took over for Sven on “Voltron”, I swear, the team structure was like “BOTP/Gatchaman”: The Cute but Commanding Young Leader, The Cute but Rebelious Wiseacre Young Guy #2, The Pretty Girl (named Princess), The Big Lug with a Big Appetite Who Can Fix Things & The Goofy-Yet-Agile Little Kid. Does anybody else ever notice this?

  13. SpukiKitty1975 on July 8th, 2010 at 8:59 pm

    “Battle of the …
“Battle of the Planets” was actually an early 1970’s redub of “Ninja Science Team Gatchaman”
however, I only know it via it’s dubbed, heavily edited “BOTP” version. Anime purists state the original, non-adulterated “Gatchaman” version was better & gritter. However, I only nostalgicaly remember it with fondness as “BOTP”…even with Casey Kasem’s voice & that dorky 7-Zark-7 Robot (who was actually American filler to add some sense to the spliced-up “Gatchaman” that is “Battle Of The Planets”!

  14. SpukiKitty1975 on July 8th, 2010 at 8:59 pm

    Yeah, and now that …
Yeah, and now that anime characters can pass for virtual “sex symbols”, I don’t feel so dorky. Of course, there’s that live-action Sid & Marty Krofft “Bugaloos” fetish I seem to have. Can’t help it, those weirdos are hot, even if the actors playing them now are old enough to be my parents. But hey, LOADS of guys go gaga over Joy the Butterfly Girl. I guess imaginary characters can be just as good a hearthrob as Brad Pitt, Pin-Ups or boy bands. Japanese toons are always unique & different.

    “Voltron”, along …
“Voltron”, along with “Battle Of The Planets” and “ROBOTECH”, were my first introductions to Anime. I was a big “Voltron” nut, I even had the toy “Voltron”. Like most “Voltron” fans, I liked this verson (The Lions) & I had a big crush on Keith (the cute, ‘bishounen-esque’ Leader guy in red with the black mullet hairdo). Lance (the brown-haired guy in the leather jacket) would be my #2 fave (and he could be quite silly as well).
