Would we need a graphics card on a 24/7 dedicated wow server PC?
February 272010
Ok, A freind of mine is creating a privte wow server (any wow fans out there can come, blizzlike 100% ) And we need a dedicated pc so it can run 24/7. we want somthing cheap and we dont need a monitor ( can switch between his Pc and the server) Could anyone tell me.
1) we would need a powerfull graphics card
2) aprox specs for the PC
3) aprox cost of this all
Don’t know about 2 and 3, but a server does not need a high end graphics card because it is not displaying the game itself, just serving up network packets.

Processor and RAM is all you need, a basic graphics card for atleast some visuals if you ever decide to use it, assuming your friend is using a server based OS. A mid spec pc of today 3ghz dual core 4gb ram will be fine if your not expecting massive amounts of traffic from 200+ people. This is probably a basic PC from PC World maybe £400
