Allright, part 3, adding things to your server. In this video 3.1 I will go thorugh the eXtensible admin tool and show you how you set yourself up as admin, and how to customize it to your likings.

In 3.2 Ill show you how to add maps and custom sounds to your server, and how to set it up so the clients (connecting players) automaticly download your custom content.

3.3 will be about installing addons, and ill show you some really nice addons that makes server administraion alot easier.

DECIDED to make a part 3 – Extras aswell, covering things like votemaplist, maplist, mapcycle, motd etc.

I will be buying a new PC for dedicated server hosting for Halo CE. What (Intel) processor? How much RAM? Which PC? etc.

Well you need to look at the Halo Game first of all, what are IT’s requirements. Obviously you must atleast match theirs. Now to host a server, you have to be able to handle traffic from multiple users. This means you should have a decent internet connection.

The server should bost twice as much RAM as the Windows version requires. This will ensure that Windows has enough umph to run windows and enough RAM to run the game. See you want everything to have enough resources to operate without causing lag or limited activity to the rest of the machine.

after the download install it in your hard drive do not install inside Program Files folder.

Make a shortcut of the hldstoolupdator, then right click on it, and properties.

It will be writen on it:

C:\HLServer\HldsUpdateTool.exe

(it depends where your hlds is installed, mine is D:\ because the D is my main local disk.)

I added the quotes because i like it but you can just add this:
-command update -game tf -dir c:\HLServer

then it will be something like this:

C:\HLServer\HldsUpdateTool.exe -command update -game tf -dir c:\HLServer

(after exe you can just press space one time and paste the secondary line.)

if you want to download garrysmod files on the “-game tf” change tf to garrysmod, it will be like this
(-game garrysmod) also, by changing the game name you can download the server files of diferent steam games, suck as cs source and other games, you just have to find out what’s the right name so it will work when you execute it.

execute hldstools.exe on the desktop and it may start downloading the files, it can take hours depending on your internet speed.

after it open your HLDS folder, go on orangebox folder and send srcds.exe to the desktop, execute it and it will appear the game settings options, choose your options and click start game and voi la!! is done!!! you made your own tf2/garrysmod/ whatever you downloaded server.

Some background history, this server was made back in late April by RaptorJesus under Titan source. Later was switched to Odin source. First it was a hamachi based server with a crappy html, but the server has gone a long way, now running on a dedicated server and thanks to ragezone and its contributers now has a good site. (Thanks to LFS CMS).
